Heidi's training philosophy has evolved over the years. She believes in the importance of respect for dogs and focuses on enhancing communication to improve bonding between humans and their canine companions. An introduction to positive reinforcement training several years ago drastically changed Heidi's understanding of dogs and their ability and willingness to work with a human partner.
Through group and individual sessions, Heidi teaches individuals and their dogs how to cooperate to achieve specific goals and to form a relationship that's beneficial for both human and canine. She believes, through experience, that anything a dog can do physically can be brought on cue quickly and successfully by reinforcing what's wanted rather than by punishing what's not. It's exciting work and fun for both human and canine!
Co-parenting a 4 year old, Heidi appreciates how growing up with a child continues to expand her understanding of learning. She owns Red Rover Pet Services, in Downtown Nashville, with her husband Robert Regan. Heidi makes her home with two humans, four dogs, two cats, two horses, and an assortment of wildlife on a small farm outside of Nashville Tennessee. |
